“Observe strafes the line between boom bap renaissance pioneer and beat scene virtuoso. While his “Savage” album series - which spotlights up-n-coming emcees - has garnered him accolades from even the most captious critics, it’s when he doesn’t have to consider lyricists that he is at his most free and experimental. Projects like “King Clout,” “Bluto,” and his first “Warts And All” installment showcase his ability to convey his insights with obscure loops and sparse vocal snippets.

Like the aforementioned instrumental offerings, “Warts And All 2” is a cynical exploration of the dingy underbelly of technology, social media, and capitalism. Much like the cover art by Anne Margrete Sjoflot, the music here is psychedelic and intriguing yet slightly jarring. It’s basically the audio equivalent of a 1970s Alejandro Jodorowsky film. You’ve been warned."
